The scalp dysesthesias are a group of conditions that are poorly understood. Patients with scalp dysesthesias have a variety of symptoms. Surprisingly, when one looks at the scalp, the actual scalp looks fairly normal. It just doesn’t make sense at first glance that anyone should have such symptoms with a fairly normal appearing scalp. But they do. These are the scalp dysesthesias.

The Non- Drug Add On Treatments for Managing Scalp Dysesthesia

A variety of treatments are helpful for patients with scalp dysesthesia. Fragrance free shampoos, good sleep, oral gabapentin, topicial gabapentin, oral lyrica, oral amitriptyline, antidepressants can all be considered. It has become clear as we continue study the scalp dysesthesias that breathing, exercise and scalp massage can be immensely helpful.
